Theater LaB Houston History
"Theater LaB Houston has changed the face of Houston Theater"
Backstage Magazine
Opening in April 1993 TLH has produced over 126 productions and every season,
TLH produces a mix of plays, musicals and guest artists.
Over 110,000+ individuals have attended TLH productions since our opening and would agree
that TLH is Houston arts at its very BEST. Our theater space has been designed with the
flexibility to stage each production for best dramatic impact; the entire theater becomes, in effect, a playing area.
Intimate seating invites the audience to participate in live theater with a new and exciting immediacy.
This use of space demands innovative approaches yet allows us the free use of proscenium,
in the round, thrust or environmental presentations. In an audience of 75 people, no playgoer
is more than 3 rows from the stage, and those on the front rows are often literally face to face with actors.
From November 1993 through December 2012 our location was at 1706 Alamo,
off 2100 Houston Avenue in Houston's historic First Ward.
In November 2013 we moved to Obsidian Art Space to produce our season productions
OAS is located at 3522 White Oak Blvd. Houston, Texas 77007.
